So every ship is FORCED to cripple themselves to do a necessary function? Nice. It dosn't even WORK for combat, you'll still die, and travel times will still be higher than today.
Further, scattering people across the system prevents a good deal of PvP because the targets will have scattered LONMG before you can rejoin then attack, if the targets have any form of firepower.
It fails the reasonable test on both combat and travel.
"Travel" (actually the universal REQUIRED) fit is slower and far elss capeable than today, ships are nerfed and still can't use the ability properly in combat and the situations you can engage in have been drastically nerfed.

Edited by: Maya Rkell on 27/07/2006 17:55:35 A frig with a MWD still ABSOLUTELY needs those insta's.
It needs to be able to travel quickly. It needs to be abe to evade gate snipers, and to evade enemy ceptor hunting packs which will otherwise web and kill.
There is NO combat ship setup bar the 200km 0.4 sec pirate snipers who dosn't need to be able to insta.
Moreover, there are dozens of game systems and ships centered arround instas, and you need to dicuss how each one will work on detail in your change proposal (start with freighers and interdictors).
Handwavium dosn't help.
You're focusing entirely on the defensive implications of jumping in and utterly ignoring the equally important offensive ones. And yes, gates are arfiticial chokepoints designed to cause conflict. If the map WORKED, you'd not jump into blobs but people whined and got it broken.
Planets already have plenty of roles, from scansites to outpost locations and more.

You're making unwarrented assumptions. If not changing is a strike against a particular syste, that also applies to yours, and the status quo is fine.
You can't have it both ways, or disciminate.

I point out the flaws in the constantly repeated few idea, yes. Hopefully, one day an idea will come along that's good, the author will defend it against me and send me packing and it'll get implimented.
That day isn't today.

TOO easy. I favout an idea which comes down to a limited number of 0km warps stored. You have to make tradeoffs and choices what to carry...
Rhal,
"But i see that an insta to the gate is not fair for those that want to camp it."
0.0? BUBBLE. They're cheaper than a cruiser, even. Or an interdictor. There are PLENTY of options in 0.0 space for people who are even slightly proactive to trap you. They don't need to automatically do so.

There is no proof of the first now BM's are lower copy priority, and the obvious answer is corp bookmarks, not trashing everyones with no replacement. A mechanically very similar system with far lower total BM numbers.

At the time, yes. Pre-RAMSAN. Pre-lower BM copy prority. This isn't the same situation.
You can't make that sort of assumption.
And yes, it'd lower the number. Your point? It dosn't address a single one of the issues.

Rail Kyrox, no, YOUR answer is mods.
They are a necessary core game function, so subtract the slots from all ships and let people warp to 0km, it's easier and penalises only the snipers who sit in one system all day.
Nothing else you mention is a core game function, and they ALL have multiple alternaties.
Negating webbers? Yes, please screw over close range and smaller ships... (sigh)
Giving snipers and griefPK's all they want is NOT the answer. Making it suicide to jump in with a fleet and to attack in a coordernated maner is NOT the answer.
